School Council

Welcome to School Council Corner!

St. Brendan Catholic Elementary/Junior High School has an active School Council. Our mission is to support our school community and provide a voice for our families. Our parent-led School Council, through St. Brendan Fundraising Association (our fundraising society), has given nearly $40,000 to the School in 2024-25 to assist with:

  • offsetting field trip costs
  • acquiring classroom technology
  • supporting families in need
  • organizing & delivering Shrove Tuesday breakfast
  • bolstering the Gr. 6 & 9 Farewells
  • special guests (dance residency)
  • visits from the therapy dog
  • new physical education equipment

The success of these initiatives relies on the support of St. Brendan families and friends!

School Council Annual General Meeting

School Council Annual General Meeting, November 17th at 6 pm
All parents and caregivers are invited to attend the School Council Annual General Meeting on November 17 at 6 pm at St. Brendan School. School Council will report on last year's activities, share current financial information, and hold an election for the 2025-2026 Council positions. We ask any parents or caregivers planning to attend to please RSVP through this form so that we can plan for pizza! We expect the meeting to be about an hour.

All positions will be up for election, and several current executive members are stepping aside. Please consider volunteering with the Council to help contribute to our school community. Whether you take on a formal role or not, please note that all parents and caregivers are welcome at every School Council to ask questions, provide input and vote on matters before the Council. We'd be happy to answer any questions in advance about School Council positions, time commitments and general volunteering - reach out to us at stbrendanschoolcouncil@gmail.com.

Hot Lunch Program

School Council operates an optional for purchase hot lunch program through Healthy Hunger.

You will need to create an account. Once you have created your account, select St. Brendan K-9. From there you will need to add your child by filling out their name and classroom. You can order one lunch at a time or for the whole year, it's up to you. Click on the order now button to order your lunch. Please note a credit card will be needed to purchase.

Deadline

To order a hot lunch on a specific date, you will need to place your order the Friday prior. On the date of the hot lunch, volunteers will deliver the food to the classrooms for elementary students. Junior High Students will pick up their food from outside the gym.

To see a list of upcoming hot lunch dates and participating restaurants, visit healthyhunger.ca.

Volunteer Opportunities - Hot Lunch

On the day of the hot lunch, volunteers will deliver the food to the classrooms for elementary students. Junior High Students will pick their up outside the gym. We would love to have any parents/guardians/grandparents come and help out with the sorting and delivery of Hot Lunch meals to the Elementary and Jr. High students. The volunteers would need to arrive at 11:30am on the day of Hot Lunch and you would be there until roughly 12:30pm (approximately 1 hour time commitment). Please note,  volunteers are not able to go into the classrooms - we only drop off the meals to the specific classroom.

If you are interested in helping out on hot lunch days please visit our sign up sheet here.

Each Hot Lunch requires 5 volunteers; if we have a high number of volunteers for a specific Hot Lunch we will ask the volunteers who signed up first to come out and help.  The person volunteering will receive a confirmation email on which Hot Lunch day(s) they have been assigned to.  The email will include an overview of what the volunteer can expect when they arrive and what their duties will entail.

Stock Your Freezer Fundraiser

This fundraiser has now closed. Orders can be picked up from 3-5pm on November 18th at St. Brendan School.

Back by popular demand, St. Brendan School Council is pleased to offer this fundraiser. Fill your freezer for the fall/winter months and support St. Brendan activities. Last year's fundraisers supported the Grades 6 & 9 Farewell committees, guest speakers, Fun Day, Shrove Tuesday pancake breakfast, and the St. Brendan Fund to help our families in need.

The frozen bulk meat is supplied by Centennial Food Services, a wholesale, federally inspected meat packer, whose main business is to supply meat to local restaurants. The products from last year received rave reviews from our community!

Purdys Chocolates

Stock up on holiday treats and stocking stuffers. A portion of the proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Grades 6 & 9 Farewell Committees. Please note you will need to enter an email address to join our fundraising campaign and a credit card to make your purchase.

The deadline to order is November 30th with delivery the week of December 9th.
